October 26, 2016 is the Last Radio Show
Many different feelings came up when I decided to end my radio show, which I have been doing since July of 2012. My decision was NOT because of issues with Rev. Tiffany White owner of Goldylocks Production. Instead, this was what held me back for months because I just love Tiffany and will miss our weekly messaging during the show. By the way, if you’re looking for someone to host your radio show, I highly recommend Goldylocks Production.
Back in 2012, I started hosting my radio show with Psychics Gone Wild and for six months or so I did another educational show for them before they dropped the second network. During my time with Psychics Gone Wild, I attempted to do a show with Hey Z Radio. And I mean attempted! You see, to broadcast shows with them, I had to run their complicated switchboard on my computer; I would be a nervous wreck trying to run the switchboard and host a show. Blogtalk Radio has their switchboard on their website and is very easy to do; therefore, I ran another show by myself there. Eventually my Angels and Guides guided me to leave Psychics Gone Wild and a few months later pushed me towards True Psychic Network. I continued to do two shows for a while longer; eventually I got tired of doing everything by myself and stopped my own show. True Psychic Network folded, I followed Tiffany to her own production company, and I have been there for over a year. Whew, that’s some radio show history!
Here are the pros of doing radio:
- Interviewing interesting guests.
- Educating my listeners.
- Choosing topics that I’m passionate about.
- Meeting quality radio show callers.
- Learning from my guests and callers.
- Improving my speaking skills.
- Marketing my business in an educational way.
- Lastly, my shows are archived to be listened to again and again.
Here are the cons of doing radio:
- A guest that barely talks during an interview.
- The guest who takes over my show and I can’t get a word in.
- Guests who are a no show, thankfully that only happened once.
- A caller (not a guest) who tries to hijack the radio show or promotes their business. Really? Don’t expect to be a guest on my show ever!
- Psychic whores who call as many shows as possible on Blogtalk Radio for free readings. This is the reason I allow only one question from a caller per show.
- Guests who are difficult about giving me their information – doesn’t email it in, tells me to take it off their website, sends me a very long bio when I asked for one paragraph, and I even wrote a bio for a guest who didn’t have one because they were afraid to write it.
- Blogtalk Radio moments are what we call technical difficulties which happens occasionally; especially around Mercury Retrograde. Once I was running the switchboard while hosting a show and they dropped my phone line. Luckily, my guest knew what was going on and covered for me until I was able to get back on the show.
Would you like to know why I am ending my show? Honestly, I am burnt out on it. Now, I understand how TV stars feel when they are doing the same role on a show for years; they love it, but get bored of doing it over and over. When you let go of the old, it allows the new to come in. I’m excited to see what God has in store for me! You can listen to my last four shows (I’m taking October 5th off) at The Love Channel Show on Goldylocks Production.
There will be psychic readings all weekend long and lots of free presentations (more than on flyer). I will be doing Manifesting Love With The Angels and will be on for a couple of hours to do readings. Find out more at http://virtualpsychicfair.com/
I am celebrating my first anniversary of leaving psychic lines. Now, psychic readings in my private practice are by appointment only because I learned it benefits my clients. The following pros and cons are my observations and experiences as an adviser of immediate psychic readings.
Pro – You don’t have to wait for an appointment.
Con – It is expensive because you are paying much more per minute for the convenience of getting it immediately than you would pay for an appointment.
Pro – The majority of the lines makes their advisers go through testing before hiring them.
Con – Some lines have a lame testing process or none at all. One line tested me for two minutes before hiring me.
Pro – When you are going through a crisis you get immediate help.
Con – Your emotional energy is so overwhelming that it can get in the way of an accurate reading. Even when the psychic is accurate, you may disregard or hear the information incorrectly because you want what you want. You could spend time and money arguing with the psychic that the message they’re channeling is incorrect. Or do reading hopping with different readers to hear what you want to hear.
Pro – You can get psychic readings every day.
Con – You could become addicted to readings instead of taking responsibility for your life or dealing with your feelings. Instead of using food or a substance, you are using readings to make your life better. This keeps you stuck instead of growing. An ethical psychic wouldn’t accept calls from a client every day; however, an adviser would be fired from the psychic line for telling that to a client.
Pro – You could get your favorite psychic adviser right away.
Con – The adviser could be exhausted from caller after caller when the lines are busy. On the other hand, if the lines are slow, you may have interrupted the reader when she was on Facebook, reading a book, or watching TV and isn’t that focused to give you a reading.
These cons are some of the reasons I left the lines. Here are other personal reasons why I think appointments are better than instant readings.
- Clients in crisis have had a little time to process their emotions; therefore the messages are usually clearer and they can hear it better.
- The majority of my clients want to make changes and grow.
- I can stop clients from becoming addicted to me so they have to make their own choices.
- I am a better reader because I’m not overwhelmed from caller after caller or bored waiting for a call.
- I get awesome messages before the session for my clients before they ask a single question.
- I like knowing in advance what my schedule is for clients, which allows more time for projects like my upcoming eBook The Secret Language of Dreams.
If you ever do need an immediate psychic reading, I highly recommend Best Psychic Directory where I personally know some of the readers. I am available by appointments for psychic readings, coaching, and dream interpretation on my website.
That is the question an author was asking in a book marketing group on LinkedIn. There were many opinions as is often the case with any group. The author was concerned about giving away his book because of all the hard work he put into it. I could hardly blame him because I understand the process.
In case, you don’t understand what goes into creating a book, let me explain it to you. There is research whether it is fiction or nonfiction, in nonfiction the author usually has many years of education and experience behind them. A fiction writer could spend a fortune learning about various writing techniques. A book requires many, many, many hours to write, rewrite, and rewrite. It takes time to find and craft the perfect words into a sentence.
A few authors find publishers, who will foot the bill, unfortunately, they also have control over the content, cover, and the title – even if the author does not like it. Many authors are choosing the self-publishing route to become Indie authors and the cost comes out of their pocket. What are the costs? Editing is a must for a good book and it is hard to edit your own work. I am fortunate that my Father, who is a retired English professor and editor, will edit my first draft. I have another editor and she does my final draft. Some authors will pay out hundreds to thousands of dollars to get the editing done.
Covers sells the books, but a homemade cover rarely does. Book covers can cost from $35.00 to $500.00 depending on the cover designer. Technical savoy authors will format their own eBooks and paperbacks. I have done my paperbacks, but the eBooks formatting looks too difficult for me. I rather pay someone than spend days trying to figure it out. The cost can be anywhere from $35.00 to $125.00.
Book covers, editing, and formatting are the must do’s for a book, but there can be other costs. Some authors will pay a company to do the three basics or more and that can run into a lot of money. Do you understand now why the author was having difficulties deciding whether or not to give his book free, even if it was just a couple of days?
People who read books do not understand this process and want free. I understand why readers do not want to spend a lot of money for books because there is nothing worse than spending your hard earn money on a book that you feel is awful. That is why I feel the middle ground for an author should be to give a short story, novella, or short eBook for free. This way the reader gets a feel for your writing style. Or have an occasional special on the book. If an author is really good most people will gobble up all their books, while waiting impatiently for their next one to come out.
The next area that comes up to free or not to free is psychic readings. People have said that it is a gift from God and you should not charge for it. However, having a voice like an angel and tremendous athletic abilities is also a gift from God; and look at what singers and football players get paid! I can understand not wanting to spend your hard earned money on a possible bad psychic, which is why you need to shop around, and/or get a referral.
Just like authors need to give samples of their writing, psychics can give a mini reading. Psychic lines often give their new customers three minute free or a discount on the first reading. Psychics answer questions in magazine columns. Some readers have radio shows and give callers sample readings. We sometimes get new clients from this avenue. The bad part about free is that it is often not valued and taken for granted. How often do you eat a food sample at the grocery store or food court in the mall and actually buy that product?
I personally do not mind doing some free, I do mind when it is expected of me. One male stranger emailed me once and wrote a couple of paragraphs about himself and his problems. He proceeds to ask me a couple of questions, he went on to say that he was too busy to speak over the phone, but if I answered his questions okay, he might book a session in the future. My response was that is why I do email readings and gave him the link to my email website page. Surprise, I never heard from him again.
Another example was a couple of months ago a woman (with a lot of nerve) called and asked for a free fifteen minute reading. I responded, “This is a business and I need to get paid for my time.” You would think that she should have hung up the phone, but noooo, she went on to ask me if I knew of a psychic that would give her a free fifteen minute reading! Here was my answer, “Are you going to come over and clean my house? Is the grocery store going to give you free food? Nobody I know is going to give you a free reading, they deserved to be paid for their time and skill.” She had no comment after that.
The point of this whole article is there has to be some balance between free and paid. The next time you want something for nothing, put yourself in the other person’s shoes and ask yourself, “Would you give away your time and skill.” Often things you pay for feel more valuable. When someone gives you something for free, please be grateful for their gift.
I do believe that it is good karma to give some things for free. I have the free class “The 3 F’s of Love” that you get when you subscribed to my newsletter. And of course, this author has a free eBook “Pamela’s Love Collection.” You can find the links to the book on my website or at Smashwords, iBooks, Barnes and Nobles, Google Play, Kobo, and Amazon (US only). On my website www.pamelacummins.com you will find the information about my weekly radio show so you can call in for an answer to your one question. You can submit a free love or dream question that could be chosen for two other monthly columns I write in Bellesprit Magazine.

The Love Channel – Let go of a past relationship and move forward is the message love expert, Pamela Cummins gives to her reader’s question.
When I got together with my ex-boyfriend about two and a half years ago, it was at a very difficult time in my life. I broke up with him several times and then ran back. After the third time, he refused to take me back. We have been apart for a year and a half now. After I begged and begged for him to come back, he refused to continue the cycle. I discontinued calling him. After 6 months, he called me and we were talking once in a while for the last six months without no progression. At one point, I said to him, “We haven’t seen each other for a long time and we don’t even know if we would still like each other-wouldn’t you kind of like to know?” He replied,~ Read the rest at Bellesprit Magazine
